Bar Manager

Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Evan grew up dreaming of a career in the arts, but quickly realized that earning a profit seriously inhibited his creative freedom. 

He pivoted to enjoy his artistic endeavors as more of a personal passion and hobby, and  after graduating from arts school Evan worked in a few local kitchens to make some money. Cooking in restaurants led to a deep interest in the experience of dining, and in 2015 he moved to NYC and landed a role at Sutton Inn working under chef Scott Grew. Evan had his sights set on bartending, and spent several years working his way up under the talented crew at the original Donna cocktail bar in Williamsburg, before working behind the bar at Studio and George Washington Bar at the Freehand Hotel. He joined the opening team at Gage & Tollner as a server assistant in 2020, and worked his way up to server, bartender and finally Bar Manager (of Gage & Tollner as well as Sunken Harbor Club) as of February 2024.

When he’s not at work, you can find Evan creating art and shooting film, traveling, or at Rethink Food working with EV Loves NYC, helping to feed New Yorkers in need.
